TCF Training – Soil Microbiome Microscopy Intensive (on-line)

If you want to get away from using chemicals in agriculture, you look at the biology in the soil.

The foundation for soil fertility and plant resilience can be found in soil biology!

Our consultants examine soil biology under the microscope. We share our knowledge by training the companies we advise (often online) in doing microscopic quick-scans of their soil, compost or compost tea.

In this way, they learn to assess and improve the biological activity and quality themselves. A diverse and active soil life protects and feeds the crop in a completely natural way, and … free of charge!

In our Soil Microbiome Microscopy Intensive you will be trained in the following skills:

  • handling and calibrating your microscope for biological assessments,
  • understanding the importance of the microbiome for soil fertility and plant vitality,
  • recognising the critical elements in the microbiome: bacteria, fungi, nematodes, protozoa, and distinguishing the bad from the good.

At the end of the training, you are able to quickly assess the quality of biological activity in soil, compost and compost tea based on a qualitative visual inspection through shadowing compound microscopy.

The hands-on and practical training consists 7 on-line training sessions of a maximum 1.5 hours each plus 2.5 hours of additional remote support. The training sessions and support will be spread out over a maximum of 2 to 3 months. The number of participants in the training can range from 1 to a maximum of 4. Successful completion of the course will result in a TCF Course Certificate.
